Since December of 1999 (right after I purchased my first town house), I left the world of startups and joined Apple Computer, Inc. The thought was to find something stable and with a future but that would provide much of the excitement and challenges that the startup environment does. I am happy to say that this was a very good decision.

As of this January (2002), I can finally brag about my work over the last two years at Apple. We announced two different products that I had major parts in to the world.

The first is the wonderful all new iMac. I started at Apple as the technical lead on this product and stayed with it for approximately one and a half years. It has so much innovation that I quickly ended up learning about many fields that I had never heard of, let alone thought about being involved in. This product has literally taken every discipline that Apple has the last two full years to be able to ship it. And I feel that it came out beautifully. Pictures can't do it justice. I would recommend that when you have a chance, stop by an Apple dealership or Apple store and play around with one for a bit. You won't be thinking 'machine' when you are done.

Tons of software

The next team that I joined at Apple had the responsibility to design and ship new Power Mac tower systems. While the iMac is a consumer based design, the Power Mac systems are full fledged professional systems and are the preferred graphics/multimedia system on the market today. While the original iMac team continued to work out the final design tweaks and manufacturing issues with the new iMac, I joined this new team and quickly stepped in to help on the Power Mac. My primary responsibilities have been graphics and I/O. I quickly came up to speed handling a few issues with the current design that was in production while I drove through the graphic card designs and worked out some new I/O issues. I also finally found my self on the factory floor with the system that we just announced. Talk about power, the top of the line has 2 separate 1 GHz G4 processors, a brand new high end graphics card from nVidia, and the new super drive for CD and DVDs. Really cool.

And now you may ask what am I working on next? Guess what, other than to say it is a new Power Mac design, I can't tell you. So you will have to stay tuned and see what new cool stuff that we at Apple will be shipping!

If you want to look for more information on the systems that I discussed here or learn anything else about Apple, just follow this link to the Apple web sight:

While you are there take a look at all the iApps available. My favorite is iPhoto which I had fun showing to people at the recent MacWorld show.

Enjoy!
